Musical Mashups & Masterpieces: A Philharmonic Family Day!
Looking for a Saturday morning that hits all the right notes? The Binghamton Philharmonic is inviting our community to a unique cross-cultural experience: Echoes of the Land.
Morning: Family Symphony Session 10AM)
Discover the fascinating story of Antonin Dvořák, the European composer who brought the folk music of his native Bohemia into the concert hall, came to America, and fell in love with Native American and African American music. This session features a special connection: music by Native American composer Boyd Eagle—who is the grandfather of the Philharmonic’s own Maestro Daniel Hege!
- Learn: Join Dr. Julia Grella O’Connell for an age-appropriate chat on the way composers use what's in their environment to make music.
- Create: Do a music-inspired craft and learn a traditional Bohemian folk dance.
- Listen: Go behind the scenes and hear the Philharmonic rehearse live!
