Looking for a way to introduce your kids to the world of classical music? Mark your calendars for Saturday, January 31st! The Binghamton Philharmonic is hosting a special FREE Family Symphony Session at the Broome County Forum Theatre, and this time, we’re heading to sunny Italy.
Journey to Italy with Felix and Fanny
In the 1830s, talented siblings Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn traveled through Italy, capturing the sights and sounds of the country in their music. During this session, Dr. Julia Grella O'Connell will lead a fun, interactive morning filled with:
- Storytelling: Learn about the adventures of the Mendelssohn siblings.
- Crafts & Games: Hands-on activities inspired by Italian culture.
- Music & Dance: Learn a folk song or a new rhythm play.
- Behind the Scenes: After the talk, your family can head into the concert hall to watch the full orchestra rehearse!
Family Symphony Session Details
- When: 10AM on Saturday, January 31, 2026
- Where: Broome County Forum Theatre (236 Washington St, Binghamton)
- Cost: FREE for children (0-16) and their caregivers.
- Bonus for Adults: If you are a first-time concertgoer, you'll receive a FREE ticket voucher for the afternoon concert! (Remember: Kids 17 and under always attend Philharmonic concerts for free).

Stay for the Performance: "Classic Style"
If your kids loved the rehearsal, come back at 3:30PM for the full performance, Classic Style! The program features the beautiful "Italian" Symphony by Felix Mendelssohn and a performance by award-winning violinist Hina Khuong-Huu.

- Adult Tickets: $29–$73 (Available at binghamtonphilharmonic.org).
