Kids Ski Free! The SKI NY Passport is Back (and Better) for 2025-26

Your 3rd, 4th, & 5th grader ski for free at participating mountains

By Kate Fletcher, Macaroni KID Binghamton Publisher December 17, 2025

Do you have a child in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade? If so, it's time to wax those skis and get the gear ready! The SKI NY Free for Kids Passport Program is officially back for the 2025-26 season, and there is some exciting news for families this year.

In the past, this was a 3rd and 4th-grade program, but new for this year, 5th graders are included too! Plus, more ski areas have opened up their holiday availability, making it easier than ever to get the kids on the slopes.

Here is everything Binghamton families need to know to take advantage of this incredible deal.

How the Program Works

The SKI NY Passport allows your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader to ski for free at participating mountains when accompanied by a paying adult.

  • Who can apply? Any child in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade (from any state!).
  • What do you get? Up to two (2) free lift tickets at each participating ski area.
  • The Catch: You must purchase a valid adult lift ticket (online or at the window) or hold an adult season pass for that mountain.
  • Important Note: The passport covers the lift ticket only. It does NOT include equipment rentals or lessons.

Cost and Registration

The program is a digital-first experience. You’ll receive a digital "card" with your child's photo that you can show on your phone or print out.

  • Processing Fee: $45 per child.
  • What you’ll need to apply: A photo of your child and proof of grade (a report card showing their name/grade, a birth certificate, or a screenshot of the school portal).
  • Processing Time: Each application is reviewed manually. If you are heading to the mountain soon and need it fast, you can email passport@iskiny.com.

Local Mountains & Participation

Living in the Binghamton area, we are lucky to have several participating mountains nearby! Here are the details for our local favorites:

  • Greek Peak Mountain Resort (Cortland): Accepted anytime, including holidays! Note: A Greek Peak account is required and reservations are strongly recommended.
  • Labrador Mountain (Truxton) & Song Mountain (Tully): Valid on non-holiday periods. (Blackout dates include Christmas break Dec 20–Jan 4, MLK weekend, and Presidents week). Must purchase a full-price adult 8-hour or night ticket.
  • Toggenburg (Fabius): Be sure to check the full list for other Central NY gems like Swain, Bristol, and West Mountain.

Holiday Periods to Watch

While many mountains (like Greek Peak, Gore, and Whiteface) accept the passport during holidays, some have "blackout" dates. If you plan to ski during these times, check the mountain's specific rules:

  • Christmas Week: 12/24/25 - 1/1/26
  • MLK Weekend: 1/17/26 - 1/19/26
  • Presidents’ Week: 2/14/26 - 2/22/26

Ready to Hit the Slopes?

Don't wait until the first big snowstorm to apply! Get your digital passport now so you're ready to go as soon as the lifts start spinning.

How to Apply:

  1. Visit the SKI NY Passport Application Page.
  2. Upload your child's photo and proof of grade.
  3. Pay the $45 processing fee.
