Police Week Community Day at DICK'S House of Sport on May 10

Enjoy FREE 5K run/walk, exploring vehicles, watching demos, and more in Johnson City

Get ready for a day of community connection and family fun this Saturday, May 10th at the Police Week Community Day, hosted at the Lower Parking Lot of DICK'S House of Sport in Johnson City! (Please note the new location – previously at Target!)

From 11:00am to 3:00pm, you'll have a fantastic opportunity to get up close and personal with our local law enforcement. This is a chance for kids (and adults!) of all ages to learn more about the important work they do and show your support.

What exciting things can you expect?

  • Explore Police Vehicles: Climb aboard and check out the cool cruisers and specialized vehicles used by our local police officers.
  • Live K9 Demonstrations: Witness the incredible skills and teamwork of our police K9 units in action. These demonstrations are always a crowd-pleaser!
  • Robot Demonstrations: See the technology in action with live demonstrations of police robots and learn about their capabilities.
  • Child ID Station: Take advantage of this important safety service and get your child's identification recorded.
  • Hands-On Activities: Enjoy a variety of engaging and interactive activities designed for all ages.
  • Prizes: Who doesn't love winning prizes? There will be opportunities to snag some fun giveaways throughout the day.
  • Delicious Food Trucks: Grab a bite to eat from a variety of local food trucks that will be on-site.
  • And Plenty More!

Kick Off the Day with the FREE Police Week Community Day 5K Run/Walk!

Want to start your Saturday with some exercise and show your support for local law enforcement? Lace up your sneakers and join the FREE 5K Run/Walk kicking off the Community Day festivities at 9:00am!

Registration begins at 8:15am at the Lower House of Sport entrance near the field.

The race course will start at the Lower House of Sport entrance near the field, head down Country Club Road toward Traditions, and loop back to finish at the field entrance. It's a family-friendly event, so whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or just want to cheer from the sidelines, everyone is welcome!

Awesome Awards to be Won!

  • Top Overall Finishers: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for both Male & Female participants.
  • Age Group Awards (Male & Female): 12 & Under, 13 - 18, 19 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60+.

Important Parking & Event Access Information:

  • Primary Parking: The event is located in the Lower Parking Lot of DICK'S House of Sport.
  • Overflow Parking: If the lower lot fills up, please park in the upper parking lots of the mall.
  • Event Access from Upper Lots: If you park in the upper lots, please access the event by walking through the mallDO NOT walk along the road for safety reasons.
  • No Parking Zones: Please be respectful of neighboring businesses and DO NOT park in the bank, Chipotle, or Panera Bread parking lots.

This Police Week Community Day at DICK'S House of Sport is a fantastic opportunity for our Binghamton community to come together, show appreciation for the dedicated men and women who serve us, and have a fun-filled day with the family.
