The BC SAFE Coalition is back with their annual "Chalk the Walk" campaign, bigger and better than ever! This year marks the 6th anniversary of the initiative, designed to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention throughout September, which is World Suicide Prevention Month.
Spreading Hope Through Art
From September 10th to 20th, community members are encouraged to grab some chalk and beautify their sidewalks and streets with messages and images that promote hope, resilience, and the importance of mental well-being. The "Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk" campaign encourages open conversations about mental health.
Show Your Work and Win!
Don't just create art, share it! Take pictures of your chalk creations and post them on Facebook or Instagram, tagging @BCSAFECoalition. Not only will you be spreading awareness, but you'll also be entered in a contest with a chance to win $100 in each of four categories:
- Best Use of Theme (One Conversation can make a Difference)
- Best Use of Color
- Most Imaginative
- Best Group Collaboration
Submit your art online for the contest at gobroomecounty.com/mh/bcsafe between September 10-20, 2025.
Celebrate at the Gallery Art Show
Join the community for a celebration of mental health awareness at the Gallery Art Show on Tuesday, September 30th, from 6:00-7:00pm. The event will be held at the Broome County Public Library (185 Court St., Binghamton) and will feature all the submitted CHALK THE WALK artwork, contest winner announcements, and refreshments.
