Free Trees for Kids! Sign Up Now via Vestal Public Library

Sign up for a free tree through Neighborhood Forest by March 15; pick up in late-April

By Kate Fletcher, Macaroni KID Binghamton Publisher February 3, 2026

It’s time to get your hands dirty for a great cause! The Vestal Public Library has announced that they are partnering once again with Neighborhood Forest to bring a little extra green to our community.

This Earth Week, your child can receive their very own tree sapling to plant, nurture, and watch grow for years to come. It’s a wonderful way to teach our kids about environmental stewardship while creating a lasting memory right in your own backyard.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you have a house full of little explorers or just want to support a greener Binghamton, there are three easy ways to participate this year:

  • 🌳 Register Your Child: Sign up to receive a free tree for your child to plant at home. (Pick-up at the library is required).
  • 💰 "Buy One, Fund One": Don’t have a child at home? No problem! You can purchase a tree for yourself to plant this spring, and your purchase will fund a free tree for a local child.
  • 🤝 Help Fund Trees: If you don't have space to plant, you can still help! A small donation of just $5 helps place a tree directly into the hands of a child in our community.
